Business advice from an established finance company

For many years we have been helping a wide range of everyday South Africans and businesses with their self storage needs. We love connecting with our customers to see how self storage has made an impact on their lives and how we can continue to better our service.

We recently spoke to a long-standing client of ours Armando Small, Managing Director of Capstone Group. Armando shared some insights into his own business growth and what it takes to start a company in a developing South African economy. Capstone Group, which provides accounting, tax and secretarial services, was launched when Armando completed his SAIPA articles and identified the need to provide SMEs with regular professional bookkeeping services.

Armando describes one of the highlights of owning an SME to be that of seeing clients succeed as a result of the advice that Capstone provides.

One piece of advice that he always gives is to not sell yourself short when starting your own business. “Never sell yourself short. Your price needs to be your price. Second to that, one needs to understand that turnover is vanity, profit is sanity and cashflow is reality”, Armando says.

In the 12 years that Capstone Group has been operating, Armando has noticed that many clients fail as they don’t understand the planning and effort that is needed to successfully start a business. ‘’In particular, cashflow can be a big challenge and it is important to learn to manage cashflow effectively. Be smart about how you manage your finances and look carefully at areas where you can save.’’

One way that Capstone Group has learnt to manage their cashflow is to convert a home property into an office. While this has reduced the cost of an expensive corporate rental agreement, it has also resulted in the accumulation of documents and files that clutter up the smaller space, creating an unproductive environment.

Capstone began renting a self storage unit at Stor-Age Randburg where they safely store confidential files and documents. Armando comments, “There are plenty of benefits to using Stor-Age as our service provider. The facility is located close to the office, is easily accessible and offers great security.”

Convenient and safe self storage for your business

As with Armando’s story, self storage can help your SME and start-up in many ways by providing flexible leases and a safe space to store your business belongings.

Self storage opens up space in the office, allowing you more room and freedom to conduct business in an uncluttered environment. The extended working hours of our conveniently located facilities means that your belongings are accessible when you need them.

With Stor-Age you only pay for the amount of space you need for as long as you need it.
