When is strawberry picking season in Cape Town?

Strawberry picking season in the Cape Town region starts in October and comes to an end in December. Most strawberry picking farms open their fields to fellow fruit lovers early October when the berries are at their sweetest.

What is the best month to go strawberry picking?

The best time to go strawberry picking in the Cape is mid to late October to end November as the weather is warm and balmy, and the heaving fields have settled down.

What to wear when strawberry picking?

The first rule about strawberry picking is to come prepared! As strawberry picking season falls in the beginning of summer, many visitors can end up leaving with a bucket load of burns if they’re not prepared for the weather.

Before stepping onto a strawberry farm, be sure to lather on a generous amount of sunblock on all the vulnerable parts of your body, especially the neck! Comfortable shoes are essential and investing in a sun hat is a good idea. Wear something light and cool, and pack in a pair of sunnies to protect your eyes while picking.
